Finally fully reveled, this is badly needed for the brand and should help them be a big player in the segment. And if the last few years are any indication, this thing should make a few automakers worried. The details:
3rd row is optional
Other markets are getting a 278 horse 3 liter V6 diesel while the US gets a new 3.5 twin turbo V6 that replaces the 3.3 while the base engine will be the 2.5 turbo 4 from the upcoming Sonata N Line.
The design is a collaboration of design studios in the US, Korea and Germany
Gets optional 22" wheels
Dash display is a whopping 14.5" while Korean market GV80's get a 3D cluster
Coming to market later this year, pricing is expected to start at just under $50k and topping out just over $60k.
This thing should be a hit.

I’d rather get any of the established players - th e steering wheel and rear fascia are way too ugly, IMO.

I’d take it over the competition eimply because its not the competition. X5's and RX’s are everywhere. Not to mention the killer warranty.

Definitely agreed that I’d prefer it when a car is less common. That said, I don’t mind that much when a good car is everywhere. Plus, for me at least, the road less traveled isn’t worth the dealer experience you get with Hyundai.

Actually, I think the steering wheel is the only part that seems worse than its competitors. I would rather see lots of these than X5s dumped over the highways.
Still, I would much rather have a G70.
EDIT: that is one massive grille! How many George Foremans is that across?

I don’t see how they can play in this segment with such a tiny grille...

And GM decides to make what? For how much?

Different strokes, I suppose. Seeing lots of these around would make me feel like I’m playing GTA in real life haha

That caused an audible lol from me.

Still waiting for the coupe next year

Thats the thing of nightmares.

I agree. The Genesis actually looks attractive — therefore no one will buy it.

i like that green on it

Looks like Skoda McLexus. That's a solid no from me.

I didn't even know it was fully unveiled yet. Everyone's talking about the new Yukon while one of the most beautiful luxury suvs has just been released.

I don’t know, I think the monstrous grille of this and the new sedan are hideous. Hyundai styling is getting really weird and not in a good way. I finally saw a 2020 sonata in person and it looks even more like a sad catfish in real life.

Not the best looking from the outside, but man does that interior scream MB. Very well done inside.

That grille looks like it would grate me like cheese if I were hit with it. I also can’t shake the feeling that it kinda resembles a pig snout...

If the dealership experience doesn’t ruin it, this is a sureshot hit. Might even win some awards and comparison tests.

I like the grille but I think its a bit overdone. It takes up too much of the front.

I always see people talking about Hyundai dealer experiences almost like they are as bad as Kia’s. I’ve never encountered them to be like that. That’ s just me though. Matter of fact the new Hyundai/Genesis store that opened in my city in late 2018 has one of the best dealer experiences I have ever encountered.

Just hoping that’s the broader trend. I have read about pretty bad experiences with dealers when people went in to buy a G70 all excited.

Oh, totally. Th e grille design is not bad at all. Th e only problem is that it’s so big that I fear it would zest me like a lemon if I were hit by it.

Really? Im going to have to look this up. I wouldn’ t be surprised though. I mean that is the fallacy of having the Genesis and Hyundai be in the same building sold by the same people. A sales person thats been pushing Elantras and Konas all week should not be the same ones selling $50-60k luxury sedans and crossovers.

That interior is sublime. The steering wheel makes me wand to cuddle with it and take a nap.
The rear end gives me Ssangyong Musso vibes.
I like the design element of the lines from the head lights carrying on beyond the front wheel with those “vents”.

For another “generic blob crossover”, I actually love what I’m seeing here, ESPECIALLY in that gorgeous green. I hope to see these on the road eventually.
